Moçambique is a country on southest Africa. It has 25,83 milions of inhabitants and their oficial lenguage is portuguese!
Despite its political problems and terrorism, they have a beautiful and rich culture.
We are going to talk about Maputo, the country's capital. It was founded in 1782, but only in 1887 it was considered a city. Their governor is a woman called Iolanda Maria Pedro.

Some of their common food are: badjias, camarão grelhado, lulas no forno, caril de frango, caril de amendoim e peixe com ximá.
As you can see the tipical foods there come mostly from the sea, because of their location. This caracteristic influence on the sports too, they are mainly aquatic.

The marrabenta, a music style, started in the 50s, in the south of the country, more specifically in Maputo, that at this time was the city of Lourenço Marques.
Lourenço Marques was named after the Portuguese navigator who, with António Caldeira, was sent in 1544 by the governor of Mozambique on a voyage of exploration
Tradicionally, marrabenta is played acusticly by a male singer with a female chorus. Nowadays, modern instruments are incorporated to this music gender.
The handicraft is also a strong artistic expression at this region. The famous batiks are multicolored paintings made in fabric and they are an example of that.
The Moçambique art can be seen on its people's clothes. The capulana, a fabric known by the richness of their colors, is an essencial part of women wardrobe.
