Government: Constitutional Monarchy

Tuvalu is a small island country in the Oceania. Tuvalu could be one of the first nations to disappear because of the global warming, but it´s important to know the culture of this unusual country.



Culinary: The most common food is Pulaka, a kind of fish. There's also bananas, pigs and coconut,
but the Polynesians eat mostly seafood.

Arts: There is a popular dance which is called faatele. In this kind of dance, seated vocalists sing repeated phrases of a song and start singing faster until they reach the clímax and stop. The dancers act out the lyrics.


Lifestyle: The people from Tuvalu live principally in subsistence. The days are occupied between fishing, agriculture and animal care.


Curiosities: 

  • Their relation emphasizes infomality, indirection and positive politeness. It is important to being attentive to the presence and the need of others.
  • You shouldn't cross a higher status persons, they are treated very importantly.
  • Every star in Tuvalu's flag represents one island.




  • Tuvalu's dolar is the same value as australian dolar.
  • Tourism is very poor, it has only one hotel.
  • There are almost none vehicles in the country. The land vehicles are mostly bycicles and motorcycles, while boats are the main water vehicles.
  • There aren't museums in the country.
  • Their traditional sport is Kilikiti, which is very similar to cricket.
  • Soccer, cyclism and rugby are played, but only for fun.
  • Tuvalu is the less poluent country in the world, but it will most likely disapear because of the global warming ( the sea levels will rise).
