Torres - Felipe Petry and Gabriel Schuch (2A)

Torres is the most beautiful beach in the whole Rio Grande do Sul. It's known for it's blue water, something that is pretty rare in our state. It's a nice break for surfers, but also a family beach, it isn't full like Capão da Canoa or Atlântida. There are four main beaches: Praia Grande, Prainha, Praia da Cal and Praia da Guarita (which is a national patrimony beach/park). In the Guarita Beach's Park, there's a mountain where you can do hang gliding and paragliding and land in the beach.

It's a surf point basically because of the wind, with every wind that breaks you have a beach to catch a good wave. There
are a lot of restaurants and bars along the beach extension.
Another nice feature is called Island of Lions (Ilha dos Lobos), where you can go by boat to see sea lions, but only in the winter too.
The city have a big downtown too, with a lot of shops and small establishments that sell whatever you imagine. There's a river too, called Rio Mampituba, where the fishers stay, alot of locals also play with jet-skis there and it is also the border of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, Torres and Passo de Torres.

  1. For those who live or often spend vaccations at the Torres beach, great news: soon to be opened bike path in town for those who love cycling, or even use roller and skates.
